We returned from China a changed family. My children had learned of another culture and their ways. Natalie discovered that people on the other side of the world were just the same as her. Bradley had discovered his spirit of adventure, and that he had the makings of a great explorer. Lois and I discovered love.
Upon arriving back in Riverview, it was time to celebrate Bradley’s birthday. My son was becoming a teenager. We had had a rocky start, though he didn’t need to know that.
We cheered him on as he blew out the candles on his birthday cake.
He grew into a handsome and adventurous teen. I see a lot of Hannah in his face, though Lois has said she can see some of my features as well. I think he has my nose, but the rest is all Hannah. As soon as he became a teen he started planning trips all over the world. Our little vacation had had quite the effect on my son, I was glad that he decided to make his own mark in the world. He wasn’t going to follow in my footsteps. While everything had turned out for the best, I wanted my son to avoid the heartache I had endured along the way.

There was only one final thing I needed to do to complete my legacy: build the mansion that would house the future generations of Masons. This land, with its rich soil had been my father’s legacy…this mansion would be mine. We completely demolished the old farmhouse and barn. I was sad to see it all go, I had been born in that house. But, there was no stopping progress. Despite that, I couldn’t bring myself to demolish the fields while there were still viable plants in it. Farther down the road, I would be able to…but for my father’s sake I just couldn’t do it now. My parents would be proud of the fortune I had amassed and they would be even more proud that I was using it for the good of the family.
After months of building, our mansion took place. I designed the plan myself, and was impressed at its unique look.
The upper floor. Left sparse for decorating by the future generations of Masons.
The dining room and kitchen.
and finally, the backyard.
The house was finished in time for my wedding. Lois and I had decided a quiet affair at home with family was the right decision for us. It was quite a task, inviting my entire family over, there were so many of us now.
The first to arrive were my sister, Autumn and my brothers Phillip and Cory. They were impressed with the new mansion. The house looked beautiful, but as I soon learned nothing was more beautiful that day than my bride to be.
Lois positively glowed that day, and if there were any doubts in my mind (and there weren’t) they vanished completely as I saw her in her wedding dress.
(a/n: first attempt at adding video – let me know what you think.)
The reception was a great time to catch up with my family. In attendance was James Jr. and his wife Lydia and daughter Clarissa, Cory, Patrick and his wife Joni, Phillip, David and his wife Jeannine and Son Conor, as well as Autumn and her husband Dorian. My co-worker Blake Wilbur, while uninvited also showed up to the party. Cory’s wife and Patrick’s wife were are home with their little ones. I was glad to see my family. We didn’t see enough of each other.
The kids were so happy to have Lois as their step-mother. They jumped right into calling her ‘Mom’. They said it felt natural to do so, I was glad for it. Many families have such a hard time blending, I’m glad that ours was working so seamlessly.
My sister asked me that night if I planned on starting a family with Lois. I told her that I already had one. Lois couldn’t bear any biological children, which was why she had been seeking a job as an au pair. It was because of that that we were even brought together in the first place. She loved my kids as though they were her own, in her heart she was already a mother and already had a family.
When the party died down, Lois and I retired to our bedroom. We were exhausted and collapsed on the bed, snuggled up close to each other, too tired to even take off our wedding clothes.
“I love you, Thomas Mason.”
I smiled and kissed her softly before whispering, “I love you too, thank you for being my wife.”
She smiled and wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me close.

Everything I ever wanted in my life has come to fruition, even the things I didn’t know I wanted. I was at the top of my career, I had amassed a fortune, I bought part of the town and I had family. I built my legacy and could now enjoy the time I had left in the world with the woman of my dreams.
But, before he died…my father and I found our peace. He was there for me when I needed him the most, and we became friends finally.
Then, there was my love life…
I met a girl the first day at my new job who seemed to be the female version of me.
Hannah Peterson, an ambitious, workaholic neat freak. She was charismatic and dramatic all at the same time. We fell heavily into lust and moved in together. We were determined to live the high life, living in excess and opulence. Neither of us wanted kids and Hannah didn’t want to get married.
I learned later that Hannah’s interest in me was purely sexual. She wanted to have an affair with me for a thrill. She got caught up in the moment when I wanted to date her. She decided, on a whim apparently, to move in with me and give a serious relationship a shot.
But, life caught up with us fast. We hadn’t been living together long when I found out that Hannah was pregnant. She hated and blamed me for her misery.
But, I had difficulty connecting to Bradley. I didn’t want to believe that my life had been changed forever. I believed it had become worse, and all of my hopes and dreams were washed down the drain. But, I was forced to stay home with him one day and I fell in love with him immediately.
Hannah, evidently jealous of this continued to lash out at me. Somewhere between the fighting and the making up, Hannah became pregnant again. This time she bore a daughter, whom I named Natalie.
Right after Natalie was born, Hannah left me and the children. It was dark moment in our family history as my mother died soon after. My father, unable to live without my mother died shortly after her. I needed to provide for my family and I couldn’t do that and take care of my children, I needed help. So I put out an ad online and in the paper and found a young woman by the name of Lois Felix.
She was the savior of this family. She had pulled us up and out of the proverbial drowning waters. She was the missing piece to the puzzle, and as she entered our lives life became wonderful again.
It wasn’t until a family vacation to China that we realized our feelings. Now, as newlyweds I looked forward to the rest of our lives together. It’s been a long road, with many twists, turns and potholes. But, I like to think that I made it through relatively unscathed and I became a new man in the process.
I had started this life as a self-centered, money hungry child…and now I’m a well-adjusted, happy man. Every day as I watch my children get older, I wonder if they’ll have similar journeys. I wonder if they’ll go through the same trials and tribulations…I wonder what their stories will be. Mine is now complete. I have accomplished everything I ever set out to do, and now…I’m happy.
So, I bid you all adieu as I pass the pen along to the next generation. I don’t know what the future will bring, but for the first time in my life…I’m hopeful.
So that is the end of Generation 2. Its sweet, I think. I decided that after Thomas and Lois got married that his story really was complete. He had come full circle and he deserved some alone time with Lois. So tomorrow will be the start of Generation 3! I’m very excited. Here’s the final tally of Generation 2.
Generation Two Objectives:
– Get to level 10 on the Business Career. √
– Get to level 10 in Charisma skill √
– Get married, woohoo, and have kid(s). (not necessarily in that order) √
– Have at least one kid. √
-Become enemies with your father and mother (why can’t you be like your brother or/and sister?) before entering your career. √- father anyway. No one could ever be enemies with Keri. Their heads would explode.
-Partner into a business (doesn’t matter which) √
-Make over 50,000 in family funds. √
-Marry a co-worker, or even your boss – close, but no cigar!
Now, here are some pictures of the family taken from the reception…so you can see what everyone looks like.
Autumn, looking as beautiful as ever. – My bestie Cat and I discussed me making a copy of her and starting another story/legacy with her. What do you guys think? – I would finish this one first…I think I’d get overwhelmed trying to do two at once!
Clarissa, James Jr and Lydia’s daughter. I think she looks like a perfect mix of both her parents. She’s the first child of Generation 3. She was dating Travis McDermott…who’s like 3x her age. He died right before the wedding and she spent the whole ceremony crying over him.
James Jr and Cory.
Autumn’s husband Dorian dancing with David’s son Conor. (I really hate the way SP spelled it.) Along with Joni, Patrick’s wife. She’s pregnant.
Jeannine, David’s wife dancing with Lydia.
That’s it for now, come back tomorrow for the start of Gen 3!
